AMD’s Big Navi Graphics Card May Feature 16GB of GDDR6 Memory [Rumor] Areej July 22, 20200 Less than a minute

AMD’s much anticipated “Big Navi” graphics card based on the RDNA 2 graphics architecture may feature a whopping 16GB of GDDR6 memory as per a Chiphell source. Before we continue, please keep in mind that this is an unconfirmed rumor and as such, we can’t confirm or deny the possibility. At the same time, considering the company’s recent campaign belittling 4GB graphics cards, it’s very possible that Big Navi will take this route.
The source claims that the Navi 2x flagship based on the Navi 21 die will feature 16GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory running at around 18Gbps. Paired across a 384-bit bandwidth, this will result in a massive memory bandwidth, surpassing the 800GB/s barrier.If the Radeon RX 6900XT packs 4,500 to 5,000 stream processors, it’ll easily offer double the level of gaming performance compared to the RX 5700 XT, all the while staying within the 300W envelope. That would coincide with AMD’s claim that Navi 2x is going to increase the performance-per-watt by 50%.
Considering that NVIDIA will still be limited to Samsung’s 10nm node (8nm LPP), it should help AMD come out on top not only in terms of raw performance but also power efficiency. There’s also the matter of ray-tracing, but considering the fact that the next-gen consoles also feature the technology all the while being based on the same design means we have nothing to worry about.
